Autodesk Inventor for Sheet Metal
With ever increasing pressure on lead times and the rising cost of materials, it has never been more important to ensure a ‘right first time’ design and manufacture approach. Autodesk Inventor makes it possible to ensure that parts are designed accurately and efficiently.
Inventor has a wealth of sheet metal design tools which allow the engineer to concentrate on the design, whilst enabling Inventor to automatically apply your sheet metal design rules, such as bend and corner relief.
With the unique combination of Radan and Inventor the design engineer is able to carry out down stream manufacturing integrity checks. This ensures that the parts and assemblies that are being designed can be manufactured with your current set up of punch, profile and press brake configuration and tooling. Radan’s DTM link software leverages as much information from Inventor as possible and speeds up the process of getting your designs out to manufacture and minimises errors.

Key functionality for sheet metal includes;
-
Capture and store your preferred manufacturing rules including: corner conditions, corner relief and bend relief.
-
Use Inventor’s Punch Tool facility to create a library of standard cut outs and punch configurations,
which can be aligned to the standard turret setup in Radan.
-
Inventor continually checks that a part can be developed as the design is in progress.
-
Parts and assemblies can be driven by an external Excel spread sheet allowing the creation of families of products quickly and efficiently.
-
Import and export a wide variety of formats, including: Pro E, Solid Works, Catia, DWG, IGES,
SAT and STEP.
-
Document designs with ease. Quality 2D, isometric and exploded views can be created automatically from parts and assemblies. Automatic bills of materials and parts lists can be placed along side the drawing views and referenced by automatic ballooning.
-
Publish light weight dwf files and e-mail 2D and 3D drawings and part assemblies to customers with
ease. Customers can then use Autodesk Design Review, which can be downloaded for free, to view designs.
-
Inventor Studio can produce high quality rendered images and animations of parts and assemblies, which can be used for sales and marketing purposes.
